Welcome to RISE UP

The RISE UP project aims to equip future academics, scientists, and professionals in higher education with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to address the challenges of the climate crisis. By fostering socio-ecological transformation, RISE UP empowers educators and students alike to become agents of change.

„There is an educational imperative to help students understand climate change as one of the many challenges that humanity will experience, but to do it in a way that gives people hope and cultivates agency.“

Fernando M. Reimers

Professor of International Education, Harvard University

About the Project

As climate change continues to intensify, it is critical that higher education institutions (HEIs) go beyond conventional climate education and integrate climate resilience education into their curricula. RISE UP addresses this need by developing and implementing an innovative, trauma-informed approach to climate resilience education that empowers students to navigate climate-related stress and eco-anxiety, while also building essential skills for their future careers in sustainability and beyond.

RISE UP primarily targets higher education professionals (educators, professors, trainers, and tutors) who play a crucial role in equipping young adults with climate resilience skills. University students and young adults benefit directly through enhanced learning opportunities that prepare them to tackle the climate crisis effectively.
